Perhaps scientists like poetry because they find that it is not as irrational as it seems.

Perhaps poetry points to logic and visa versa.

What science can't begin to fathom becomes as interesting as science itself.

In poetry language can weave the impossible when it is clearly understood by the reader. 

Scientists might be wise to write a few poems themselves.
